How we approach it

Solid and engineered hardwood installed with tight seams and clean transitions.

Hardwood is still the floor that adds the most warmth — and the most lasting value — to a South Georgia home. We install both solid and engineered hardwood, and we will tell you plainly which one suits your room. Engineered plank handles a slab subfloor and humid summers better; solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished more times over its life.

Before a single board goes down we check the subfloor for flatness and moisture, plan the direction of the run so the boards work with your light and your sight lines, and rack the material so grain and color are distributed instead of clumped. That planning is what separates a floor that looks installed from one that looks built.

We finish the job the way we would want it in our own house: tight seams, clean transitions at every doorway, trim and shoe molding fitted properly, and the site swept and hauled out at the end of each day.

Why Baltazar Floorcovering

What we do differently on hardwood flooring installation

  • 01

    The prep is not optional

Most hardwood failures start under the floor. We flatten and moisture-test the subfloor before we commit a single board.

  • 02

    Layout decided before install day

Board direction, starting wall and transitions are agreed with you up front, so nothing gets improvised on site.

  • 03

    Flooring is all we do

Hardwood is not a sideline to a general contracting business here. It is the craft we practice, every working day.

Questions

Hardwood Flooring Installation — the things people ask

Solid or engineered hardwood — which should I choose?

If your home is on a concrete slab, or the room sits over a crawl space with moisture movement, engineered plank is usually the safer choice. If you are over a stable wood subfloor and want a floor that can be refinished several times across decades, solid hardwood is hard to beat. We will look at your subfloor and tell you which we would install.

Do I need to move the furniture myself?

Talk to us when we quote. We will agree in advance who moves what, including appliances and anything fragile, so there are no surprises on the first morning.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation estimate. We measure the space, talk through your material options and give you a written price before any work is scheduled.
