Homes here have their own quirks
Homes around here sit on both concrete slabs and raised crawl spaces, and which one you have changes what can go down and how it has to be prepped — slabs need moisture testing before anything wood or glued goes over them. Older Tifton homes often have original hardwood hiding under carpet, and it is frequently worth refinishing rather than replacing.
Humidity is a design factor
South Georgia summers are long and humid, and that moisture moves through a floor whether you account for it or not. It pushes us toward engineered plank over solid hardwood in some rooms, and it makes correct expansion gaps on floating floors non-negotiable. We factor where you live into what we recommend.
